Freshman Year

I made a video about what my life was like last year... because I was intensely bored.

Hahaha.

Introducing....

Well I feel like I don't ever really have a whole lot of time to do much on this blog very frequently. So, I've created a new blog that I don't mind sharing with all y'all. In this blog I am required to write one sentence per day. And so far I've been able to stick to it. :P (It's only been two days...)

So here's the link if you're interested:

Sarah Is Avoiding Something....

1. When was your first breath on earth? Sometime between 10:20pm and 11:00pm GMT. About 20 years ago.

2. What did your parents decide to name you? Funny story... they thought I was going to be a boy up until I was born. Or at least that's what I remember being told when I asked. They were going to call me Joseph or Owen or something. But... I'm a girl!! So my dad called me Sarah. Story goes, he was so surprised to see a girl come out instead of a boy that he said it kind of inquisitively. Like "Sarah? Why the heck are you a girl??"

3. What's your natural hair like? As opposed to my unnatural hair? Well, it's brownish and straight. And relatively soft.

4. What color are your eyes? My irises are brown. My pupils don't really have color since they're really just holes... even though they are commonly perceived to be black. The rest of my eyes look whitish. Sometimes pink if I've been crying... which I rarely do.

5. What's your skin tone?
Sallow-y whitish... I guess...

6. Do you have detached or attached earlobes?
My earlobes are quite dangly. I believe that is what is meant by "detached."

7. Where were you born?
Some room in some hospital located in Ipswich, Suffolk, England, United Kingdom, World, Solar System, Milky Way Galaxy, The Universe.

8. Do you know how much you weighed?
Yes, I do. But I'm not telling you!!!

9. How were you delivered?
Through an orifice located in the inferior aspect of my mother's body. With the help of a vacuum. True story.

10. What school did you go to as a child?
The school of life. I am still enrolled and plan to continue for the next eternity or so.

11. What was your favorite toy?
My imagination!

12. What was your favorite Disney movie?
Ummmm um um ummmm.... I have no idea. Ask my mother.

13. Do you remember your first best friend?
I'm fairly certain that Charla Summers was my first real best friend. But I could be wrong.

14. Your first childhood crush?
I don't remember if I even had a childhood crush. However, I did have many emerging-teenager crushes.

15. Did you have an imaginary friend?
I was my own imaginary friend.... wait...

16. What TV show did you watch a lot?
Early Childhood: Barney, Bananas In Pajamas, Arthur
Late Childhood: Arthur, Bill Nye the Science Guy
Tweenager: Smallville
Young Teenager: I rarely watched TV.
Older Teenager: Lost, annnddd probably a few others.
Now: House, Grey's Anatomy, Burn Notice, 24, Lost, Castle, Lie to Me, Dollhouse, Glee, and like thirty others.

17. Did you have those shoes with the light-up heels?
I think once. In the 90s. Maybe.

18. What crazy antics did you do as a child?
One time I rode my bike down our street with no hands and my legs crossed over the sissy bar.

19. Do you miss those good ole days?
Not particularly. I enjoy early adulthood.

20. Who was your first legit crush?
Clark Richardson. I was in "love" with him until 7th grade. Then it was Manoli Liodakis.

21. What high school did you go to?
Paul V Moore. (Central Square, NY)

22. Who were your favorite teachers?
I liked most of my teachers.

23. How old were you when being a girl started to suck?
You know what? Being a girl never sucked for me.

24. Were you bullied in high school, the popular kid, or just in-between?
I was one of the overly ambitious kids in high school. I associated more with my teachers than peers. Good times.

25. Did you attend wild parties?
Nope. I didn't even know they existed except for in movies.

26. What were your favorite movies during teenagerdom?
Miss Congeniality, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Pirates of the Caribbean, anything with an attractive male lead.... :P

27. Is your hair a different color than it was at birth?
Maybe slightly... again, ask my mother.

28. What was your first car?
I'm one of those underprivileged kids who has to purchase their own first car.

29. Are these times going by too fast, too slow, or just whatever?
I believe that this survey assumes that the survey-taker is younger than 18. Teenagerdom for me will officially be over in about 3 months.

30. Do you want to get married? What age?
Yes, and when I'm old enough. Hahaha.

31. Do you want to have kids? What age?
Yes, and when I'm married.

32. Will you spend your 21st birthday drinking hardcore?
Nope. I'll more likely be studying for upcoming finals. Haha.

33. Will you buy a buncha cigarettes when you're 18?
No I definitely won't. But I already turned 18. Haha... plus you can't buy cigarettes in Utah until you turn 19. Which I am... but I still haven't bought any cigarettes.

34. What job/career would you like to have?
I kind of want to do research for the CDC or something. That would be really cool. I wanna be the person who plays with Ebola every day. Hahahaha.

35. What do you want to name your kids?
Thing One and Thing Two for the oldest ones. And after that I'd like to name them after all the different types of leukocytes.

36. What genders would you like them to be?
I have no preference.

37. What car would you like to have?
Anything that lasts for more than 150,000 miles on little servicing.

38. Are you still wild and crazy like you were as a teenager?
UmmmmmMMMMMmmmmmm. This is assuming that I actually was wild and crazy as a teenager. You decide.

39. Are you looking forward to adulthood?
NO. Hahaha didn't mean for that to be capitalized... or did I?

40. How long would you like to live?
As long as it takes. Hahahahaha.

41. What would you like to have accomplished in your old age?
Five things: have gotten married in the temple, have many beautiful and intelligent children, help everyone I love be happy, have saved at least one life, and have gotten hit by a car... at least once.

42. Would you die valiantly or more subtly?
I'm trying to understand how a person can die valiantly but not subtly... or both... or neither...

43. Will you have 20 cats?
Not likely.

44. Where would you like to live?
Somewhere in space. That would be cool. Raise my family on a starship or something. Bahaha. Apparently I've been entertaining myself with too much science fiction lately.

45. Are you going to wear a wig to hide your old-person-hair?
I've never heard of anyone doing that. Ever. If I wear a wig it will be bright pink with neon green stripes.

46. Will you knit sweaters for your grandchildren?
Probably not. Knitting's not my thing. And by the time I have grandchildren sweaters probably won't exist anymore. Haha.

47. Or bake cookies when they come over?
I'll just feed them McDonald's and TV Dinners.

48. Will you ever let yourself even get to "old age"?
I do not embrace Kevorkian ideologies.

49. What will be on your tombstone?
I won't have one. I'm going to be twinkled.

Sarah Is Sick

Hopefully it's nothing too serious, and it only just started presenting today.

I woke up this morning with lots of aches, respiratory mucus, and a lack of appetite. Today has just been kind of not-so-fun for me as far as health goes.

I borrowed a thermometer from my home teacher, Forest, and my temperature is only slightly elevated. Hopefully it stays that way, but it could just be because of the acetaminophen that I took earlier.

My other roommates have been coughing for the past week, so I'm sure that whatever it is that I have, I got it from them.

Nothing much has been new with me. Just a lot of school and busy stuff.

I'm really looking forward to Thanksgiving Break. I hope that I'll have recovered from whatever-itis by then.

Nature is Lazy

And so am I, apparently.

Right now I am on the second floor of the HBLL (BYU's library) supposedly studying. I'm supposed to be getting ready for my Anatomy Lecture midterm that was postponed from Wednesday to Friday. I just finished going over the Endocrine System, and decided to take a little break since I haven't posted anything in a while.

This weekend I decided to spend Halloween with Becca and Simon up in Salt Lake City. Simon dressed up as a devil and we all went trick-or-treating together. He got sick of wearing his mask, so I carried it for him while he went to all of the houses. Becca carried most of the candy. :P

After trick-or-treating, Simon and I decided to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas while Becca went to spend some time with her friends at a Halloween party. Less than halfway through the movie, we both got very tired and decided to start playing Wii. We soon tired of Wii and decided to go to bed. It was probably the earliest I've been to bed in a long time, but I was exhausted.

I probably should have studied more over the weekend, but I didn't. Sunday I went over to the Babcocks' for dinner and then went with Steven and his friend Alysa to the YSA fireside. It was a very good fireside and I enjoyed President Uchtdorf's talk considerably.

Anyways... not a whole lot has been going on in my life since the last time I posted except for schoolwork and the normal day-to-day things. I'm planning on taking a martial arts class in the Winter, and maybe Ice Hockey as well... but the Ice Hockey class has a fee, and I don't think the martial arts class does, so I probably will end up dropping Ice Hockey. I thought it would be a fun way to exercise, though... so we'll see.

I should get back to studying Anatomy.

Love!

Short

Thought I'd give an update. Not much to update though.

I'm doing really well in my Anatomy class and pretty well in all of my other classes. Physics has been giving me a hard time but I finally understand its applications so things should be much easier from now on.

Here are some pictures from recently which you may or may not have already seen on Facebook.

It Will Never End

I forgot to correct my spelling in the title for last time I wrote. "Foramena" is supposed to be spelled "Foramina." A foramen is basically some kind of hole that goes through a bone. Not to be confused with a canal, a fissure, or a fossa.

I have been really busy this past week, but I decided that I might as well take some time to send an update to all of my fans. :P When I say it like that, it makes me sound like a celebrity. Bwahaha.

All of my classes seem to be going rather well. I love them all, even though some of them are extremely demanding on my sanity. For example, I still have yet to completely understand how to solve problems that involve electric fields, mass, electric potential, and/or kinetic energy of particles in my Physics 106 class. If any of you would be so kind as to enlighten me, I would be quite grateful. (However, I think the biggest thing I need to do is study more.)

My Family History class is amazing. I feel the Spirit more in that class than in any of my religion classes before. Including Institute. My teacher says that it is because the Spirit of Elijah is also there. I totally believe it. Something interesting he said yesterday that inspired me not to give up (since it seems as though all of the temple work for all of my great-great-great-something grandparents has been done on all sides.) He said that just 500 years back, we each have something around 1,000,000 "grandparents." AND all of their siblings. Which makes something around 10,000,000 ancestors (give or take) 500 years back. It's just incredible to me that so many people can have existed before and still somehow be connected to me.

The Marriage Prep class that Emma and I are taking together is turning out to seem more worth the credits than it seemed closer to the beginning of the semester. Our teacher is very intelligent and spiritually aware. He has great ideas and is able to connect things that the apostles and prophets have said that make perfect sense when he ties them into "Ideal Marriage." I look forward to finding out what he has to say about the Dating Scene. Bahaha.

As for my Chemistry class, (which Emma happens to be TAing--but for a different professor), so far everything is really basic.. and if I have a pressing question I can always just lower my book, look across the room at Emma and ask her my pressing question. Usually she'll know the answer. Most of the time, though, I can figure it out on my own using the book and my notes and whatnot. Which is good. (I should hope I can seeing as I've already taken two college-level chemistry courses...)

Introduction to Clinical Laboratory Techniques is an incredibly fun class for me. I've already been able to test my own blood for hematocrit and hemoglobin levels. (Mine are average-ish.) I have also been able to actually use a microscope and look at the teeny tiny eensy weensy white blood cells and red blood cells and platelets and differentiate between them all. It took me at least twenty tries to actually make the slide, though. It's really hard to get blood to go down to only one-cell-thick layers. I finally got it and I was so happy with myself that in my celebration I forgot which side had the actual blood on it. And I wiped it all off. So twenty more tries later and I had another one. Needless to say, I am now very careful to remember which side of the slide actually has the blood on it before I go to wipe off the precipitate.

Unfortunately, I have been spending too much time explaining my classes this morning. I need to go make another attempt at figuring out how exactly to approach my Physics homework. Thanks for listening!

Turkish Saddles and Lots of Foramena

I know it's been a while since I've written anything. I've been pretty busy with classes and getting settled.

I've really enjoyed my first week of classes. I met a lot of new people who I really get along with. All of my roommates are very cool intelligent girls. I'm glad that we all relate well enough to be able to compromise and discuss things without upsetting anyone.

I have a lot of work ahead of me. I learned in my anatomy lab on Saturday that we will be learning around 1000 terms by the end of the semester. And we have to remember all of them... That will be a challenge in itself. It's almost like learning a whole new language.

My physics class is very interesting. I've always enjoyed learning about physics. (Well, for as long as I've been learning it... I didn't take any physics classes in high school...) I also really love all of the professors for physics. They're all nerds and really socially awkward, but that makes classes so much more interesting and fun. :D

Right now I'm in the library doing reading for Chemistry and my Medical Lab class. But I decided to take a break just to give y'all an update. So here it is!

Wish me luck and pray for me in my educational endeavors. I'm going to need it.

Love you all!

First Day

I don't really have a whole lot of time to put up pretty pictures or even say a whole lot, but I just wanted to give an update of my first day of classes.

I only had two classes on Monday. The first was Chemsitry at 1:00 p.m. The second was Family History at 2:00 p.m..

I woke up at the same time that Emma woke up (around 6:30) because I've decided that I really like getting up early. The problem was that after I finished all of my reading and "homework" for the day, I had nothing to do with 2 hours to spare before classes.

So I decided to just pick a random class and go to it. I looked up the class schedules online and came to the conclusion that I wanted to check out a Calculus class just to see what BYU Calc is like.

I found a room number in the JKB where the class was going to be held in ten minutes. I walked over to the JKB from the Benson building (for those of you who don't know how far they are from each other... it's not too far but they're on opposite ends of campus.)

I barely made it into the room by 11:00am. There were a LOT of guys in the room. Maybe 2 girls besides me. I figured hey, not a whole lot of girls must take Calculus. So I sat down and got my computer out... settled down.

The professor walked into the room and said, "Welcome..."

"...to Book of Mormon for Returned Missionaries."

No wonder there were only a few girls in the class. Lots of cute RMs though. :P Needless to say, I stayed. It seemed like it was a pretty good class, too. Especially if you're already pretty familiar with the Book of Mormon like RMs are. And the class isn't forbidden to non-RMs... but non-RM classes are forbidden for RMs to take. Maybe because of their advantage. Who knows.

Well after that I went over to Michael and Sare's condo to help them out with some stuff, and then I went to my Chemistry class. It seems pretty easy so far, but most first classes do.

The next class I went to was Family History and I LOVED it. The professor, Brother Alford, is very funny and very spiritual. I'm sure that class will be worth the extra two credits it cost me. In fact, during his introduction to the course he explained that BYU made it so that the two credits for REL C 261 are made so that you don't have to spend as much time on the class as the university "usual."

After Family History I went back to the apartment and studied for a while and did some Chemistry homework. Then we went to our FHE activity with the whole ward at the Bishop's home in Alpine, Utah. The activity was tons of fun and our new ward seems really awesome.

I look forward to the rest of the semester.

(And now I'm off to MMBIO 120: Introduction to Clinical Laboratory Techniques...)

Homemaking

Today was rather uneventful. No classes to stress about yet, no fun events to pass the time with.

I went up onto campus to take care of some little things after we went shopping with Grandma Jane and moved our things in a bit. When I was done with my business on campus I realized that I was incredibly hungry.

So... when I got back to the apartment I decided to make spaghetti!

This is what the kitchen looked like after I was done:

Our table. All set!

Spaghetti!! (With chicken and green beans... a deadly concoction. Bwahaha.)

Emma's first bite... she took my "First Bite Picture" on her camera. :P

Parting of the Ways

Well, I've neglected my blog for about a month since my mom has been doing a good job of documenting what we've been doing as a family. She's not here to blog for me anymore so I suppose I should pick it back up!
I waved goodbye to my family after what seemed like an eternity of moving around carseats and stuff and food and books and DVDs and suitcases and people. My grandmother drove me and the other half of my things down to my new apartment in Provo. I'll be sharing it with 5 other girls including my cousin Emma.
Mostly I've just been unpacking and moving things around. I'm trying to wait to organize anything since I want to make sure that the setup is comfortable for everyone. So I decided to ride my bike down to the D.I. that isn't too far from where I'm staying. I wanted to finally get a picture frame for the family photo that I've had for about a year now.
After not too much searching I found the perfect-sized frame. But it was bright yellow. (Which would totally clash with the colors in the family photo.) It was only $1.00 so I decided to get it and some silver metallic spray paint to hopefully make the clash a little less "clashy."

Here are the pictures of its transformation:

Southern Californians = Entertainers of the World

This is a clip of the local fireworks show. They had music playing throughout, and the grand finale was crazy! Unfortunately, the clip I have doesn't include the grand finale.

Also, here are a few pictures of the last "group" in the neighborhood Independence Day Parade.

My Feet

I stole this idea from Emma. My feet! This one is right after my pedicure. Aren't they purty??

My feet at the lake where we went for fireworks on the 4th.

My feet at the beach!!

California

We got here exactly one week ago. I've taken a lot of pictures, but I misplaced my cord that allows me to upload pictures onto my computer. So until I get one in the mail, there won't be any pictures.

I went to the ocean a few days ago with my cousin Janae and aunt Pam. They stayed on the beach while I got into the water. (The flag was yellow -- so the waves were moderately dangerous.) I went in anyway because I'm just a fan of waves.

It was probably a bad idea to get into the water right after putting sunscreen on my very sunburned shoulders... because now they are scaly and peeling like crazy. And they hurt a bit too. Hopefully they'll heal soon so that we can go to the beach again!

Hare Hare Krishna!!

(Festival of Colors)

So, Emma and I decided to borrow Michael and Sarah's car to go down to a Hindi temple in Spanish Fork where they were having this huge celebration called the Festival of Colors.
Basically, it's a celebration of spring and you throw powdered chalk at people and there's hundreds of people there. It was a grand time.
There were also llamas. And parrots and other birds. So much fun!!!!
I would write more, but it's past my bedtime.
Loves!!!

Busy Week

I apologize for failing to write very much this week.

I've been super busy getting ready for tests and whatnot. I have four tests that I need to take between today and next Tuesday or Wednesday.

I took my French exam today... I think I did pretty well on that one.

Now I just have Biology, Physiology, and Chemistry.

Yeah, it's gonna be a pretty heavy weekend.

Also, I registered to take a FREE practice MCAT exam. It's a full-sized test (I'm fairly certain) that goes from 10am to 3pm this Saturday. They send you a score report that looks just like the report for a real MCAT.

I figured that it would be good experience, so... we'll see how I do!!

My Favorite Song Today

Table For Glasses-Jimmy Eat World

Sweep the dirty stairs
The ones I waited on

This is just for me
I felt it watching her

And it happens too fast
To make sense of it
Make it last

It happens too fast
To make sense of it
Make it last

Where do you intend to go with your dirty dress?

Lead my skeptic sight
To the table and the light

It happened too fast
To make sense of it
Make it last

It happened too fast
To make sense of it
Make it last

Lead my skeptic sight

Lead my skeptic sight

Not asking of me anything
(Lead)
Saying nothing about what it means
(my skep-)
Without anybody telling me
(-tic sight)
What I should feel

Not asking of me anything
(Lead)
Saying nothing about what it means
(my skep-)
Without anybody telling me
(-tic sight)
What I should feel

What I should feel

Lead my skeptic sight
To the table and the light.

Pefect Day

I wake up to the sound of the ocean. I open my eyes and I am surrounded by white.

I roll onto my side and I can see the sun barely peeking over the waves. It is morning, and colors are thrown across the ocean and through the sky.

I step down onto hardwood floor. Barefoot. I make my way outside. A breeze gently caresses my face as I glide toward the waves.

My family is sleeping in our home as I welcome the early morning.

I have forgotten the meaning of stress, pain, worry.

I know only peace. I know only joy.

One BIG Mistake

But I still got a 96% on my Physics exam.

On the exam I had just finished spending an hour on figuring out one problem, and there were only three questions left. I was really pooped out.

So. I ended up making a very stupid error on one problem and decided that physics didn't matter---I'd just use proportions and plain old math.

BIG mistake.

I missed 5 points because I didn't use physics to find the answer... I got a relatively reasonable answer... just not the right one.

I did everything else perfectly. So I ended up getting a 96% instead of a 100%.

Sigh. At least it taught me a lesson. Next exam, I will be much more careful about using principles that I learned in class to solve the problems that are presented.

Plugged In

I know I haven't written anything recently. I've been incredibly busy with a lot of things. Some of which have not been as "best" as others. Haha. Although I am trying to do better with spending more time studying and less time being social. What can I say? I usually like people.

I say usually because sometimes I can be very anti-social-seeming. The other day at Family Home Evening I was "plugged in" the whole time (as Emma called it--I had my headphones in, listening to music) because I was a little tired and irritable and didn't want to offend anyone by being short with them without having a "good" excuse. Being plugged in seems like a good excuse to me! When I'm plugged in I don't have to reply to anything anyone says in a group conversation because I don't hear what they say. Hahahaha.

Anyways, just writing to let everyone (whoever it is that actually reads this...) know that I do still exist! Just a little busy.

:)

The Hotpots

Last night I got invited to go to the hot springs with a bunch of friends. I invited Emma to come along with us. The drive was 40 minutes to get there, but it was so much fun. I'll post some pictures of the car ride there and the car ride back. The other people you'll see in the pictures besides me and Emma are named Rose and Josh (the same one who came snowmobiling.)

These are the BEFORE pictures:

These are the AFTER pictures:

I wish we had gotten pictures of our feet and clothes. They were so muddy!! I also wish I had taken pictures of the actual hot springs. Next time!!

My Map

Yesterday I had an appointment with one of the advisers for the "Life Sciences" college. I was planning on talking to her about my ideas about majoring in either Microbiology or Physiology. I was hoping that she could help me decide which would be best for me to take based on my goals and fears concerning the future.

When I met her, she was very kind and helpful. I explained my dilemma---that I was interested in both aspects of science and that my goals are to go to medical school and become a doctor. I also told her about my overall interest in working inside of the medical field and that I have had some experience in most sections of health care. (As far as observing and understanding the positions goes.)

After I finished talking she just looked at me and said, "I'm going to confuse you even more."

She then opened up her binder of "Major Academic Plans" and showed me one that was called "Clinical Lab Science."

"The CLS major combines both Physiology and Microbiology, along with other medical-related sciences, and adds an element of 'hands-on' experience."

She told me that nearly all of the classes that I'd be taking for the CLS major would correspond to both the Microbiology and Physiology majors, so if I decided that I really would rather do either one of them instead, I could easily switch majors and finish at around the same time.

She also said that with a CLS degree and certification I could go straight to work in the lab of a hospital or clinic doing diagnostic laboratory work and pathology if I ended up deciding later on that medical school isn't for me.

I really liked the prospect of being able to keep all of those options open, so I went for it. I am now a Clinical Lab Science major!

Mondays Always Suck

Okay so today isn't really Monday... but it feels like it was. Probably since today was the first day of classes for the week.

My first class starts at 8 so it's pretty painful to get up early enough to get ready and make it there in time. All of my classes are well worth the trouble, though. I love learning!

My neck has been hurting like crazy today from the whiplash I got yesterday when I went sledding. I still want to go again. Flying 12 feet above the ground is so much fun!!

Here is my excited face at the prospect of more ground-defiance. 8D

Not much else has really happened today except for studying and classes.

Tomorrow I have a French test and I have two more tests this weekend. Other than that I won't be too terribly busy if anyone wants to play!

Daredevil

This is me right when I woke up this morning. Okay not RIGHT when I woke up but pretty close. I was soooo so tired. I didn't actually end up falling asleep last night until around 2am. This was taken at around 7:30 this morning. The reason I got up so early was because last night I got invited to go snowmobiling with one of my friends. I almost didn't go because I was just so tired... but then I decided that I would probably have a lot of fun... even if I was dead tired the whole time.

Well, the car ride up to my friend's buddy's cabin took around an hour I think. I wasn't really paying too close of attention to the clock. Those kids are a lot of fun to just hang out and semi-road trip with. Bwahahaha.

We finally got to the cabin neighborhood entrance thingy which was gated... we had to wait for the kid to come down and let us in. We parked in a little parking lot that was covered in snow because we had to snowmobile the rest of the way up to the cabin. There were 7 snowmobiles... 6 of which seated 2 people. I think every snowmobile was full.

I took these pictures before we snowmobiled up to the dude's cabin.

The guy in those pictures is my friend Craig Whitaker. He was an Elder in our ward in Liverpool about a year and a half ago. Something like that.

I actually rode behind Whitaker's friend Josh on the way up to the cabin. I wish I had gotten more pictures of the people who were there. Someone took a group picture and I'll try to get my hands on it... but I'm not sure what the girl's name was. I guess I'll have to ask Whitaker about it.

Since I forgot to bring my coat or anything resembling snow pants, boots, or gloves, I ended up borrowing all of the above from the guy whose family owned the cabin and snowmobiles. Oh and I borrowed that hat from another kid in the group named Cameron.

I got to drive the snowmobile from the cabin to the "sledding" spot. Here is a picture of the view from the top (well actually probably like... 1/5 of the way up) of the hill.

At the bottom you can kind of see the road that we took to get there... it's covered in snow. Just past the road is the top of another much steeper hill that was covered in untouched snow and sloped down into some scraggly Utah Valley trees.

I was the second person to go down (behind Craig) and I caught SO much air when I went over the "cliff" after the road. Apparently I was going super fast and everyone thought that I was going to die and kill Craig/Whitaker in the process. After I rolled off the sled it kept going until it ran into the trees some 15-or-so yards down. It took me forever to go all the way down and back up with the sled because of how deep and unpacked the snow was.

I had a little cut on my finger that was dripping blood by the time I got up to the top because my heart was beating so strongly. I took a picture of it but it wasn't a very good picture so I won't put it up. Here's one of someone else hitting the jump though.

That's a view from the road. I kept going pretty far after that jump. Hahaha. It was SO much fun. I hadn't been sledding in over a year. Very much worth the soreness. :)

After we got done sledding we snowmobiled up to a field that was sort of in the shape of a racetrack. I got to drive the snowmobiles a lot and I even raced against a few guys. We got up to like 70 miles an hour a couple times. So much fun!!!

I didn't end up getting back to Provo until around 4pm. And by the time we were done I was EXHAUSTED. I'm also a little bit sunburned on my face. Also worth it!

Tomorrow school starts back up again. But today was a good day.

Coming Down From the Y

No, I haven't been stuck up on the mountain for all this time. But I have been stuck on top of a pile of studying and homework since the beginning of the semester.

So here's a little free time to update my life. I have decided to return to my original pursuits of going to medical school and becoming a doctor. Since I made that decision I have been increasingly happy. It's good to have goals.

Basically now I'm trying to decide between majors. Do I want to major in Physiology and Developmental Biology? Or would I enjoy a Microbiology major more? Should I major in Public Health because it would give me an ahead in hospital administration or should I major in what interests me the most?

I'm also trying to decide on whether or not I want to get a job or just try to find a service opportunity that somehow relates to what I want to end up doing with my life. I've already made an attempt to sign up at various hospitals and medical centers in the area as a volunteer, but I haven't gotten any calls or emails saying that I actually got a volunteer position. Probably because so many Nursing students take precedent and are planted by the school in volunteer spots. Maybe I'll just get a job and save up some money so that I can try and take classes over Spring and Summer.

Another thing I have been thinking about doing is qualifying as an EMS worker. That would give me a ton of really great experience, and even though the BYU EMS is all volunteer work... when I'm not at BYU I could save up a little money as an EMT. Sounds like a pretty good idea to me, but I still haven't decided yet. It's a relatively large time commitment to take classes and training to get certified as an EMT.

I'm going to try to get some pictures up here sometime of recent activities soon.

À bientôt!
