HIking the Y

Last night was the annual "Light the Y" tradition thing... a bunch of my hallmates and I missed it because of a review session for a class that we all have that was scheduled for the same time.

We decided to hike up after the review session at 8:30. We didn't get back to our dorms until midnight.

(We walked all the way up to the trailhead too... that was one heck of a hike.)

how to water a tree

The other day Emma and I walked up to the dollar theater. On our way back to Helaman Halls we saw a sprinkler watering a tree. We thought it was hilarious at the time so we took pictures.

While I'm at it I might as well post other pictures that I've taken this week. I was messing around with the settings on my camera, so a lot of them are a little blurry since I don't have a tripod. Haha. Anyways...

This is what I look like when I just wake up. Hahahaha. It's true. Isn't my hair fun?

I'm thinking of dying it like... a natural red color next. That would be fun. I wonder what I would look like as a redhead.

After that I might try and go blond. Just to see what it's like. Hahaha. And then I'll go back to normal.

This one is me and Emma at the new Cannon center. We enjoy the desserts. Very much.

Haha. The old CNC is pretty much leveled right now.

I wonder what they're going to build after they're done tearing the rest of it down and cleaning it up.

We'll see!!

This one is me getting ready to study on the grass for my human development test.

This next one is a lovely picture of my lovely backpack that I love.

The next few are some views from Ensign Peak... the hike we went on last week I think it was.

It started raining right as I got down the mountain with Emma and the twins. Seb and Gabe were at the bottom too when it started to rain. And boy, was it raining!

I was going to post a video of the top, but it was so windy the sound would probably blow your speakers. And that would not be fun. Haha. Anywhoo. I need to go eat breakfast and go to my classes now.

Love.

Tennis Fun

I wish I had taken my camera with me this morning.

Emma and I were planning on playing tennis, so I called her at 8 and we went over to the RB to get tennis equipment.

We walked all the way to the outdoor tennis courts only to discover that the gates were locked. We thought it was supposed to be open for common BYU student use... so we climbed the fence.

It was pretty entertaining.

When I got back here I realized that only the INDOOR tennis courts were open. Haha.

Oh well.

Like I said, I wish I had pictures... but I don't. Maybe I'll put all of the pictures I've taken here onto an online album so it's easier to see them all.

Who knows.

Well, now...

I have been meaning to take my camera with me everywhere I go and take pictures but it's really difficult. I either forget or don't have time to upload the pictures, etc... etc.. etc..

I've been writing a lot for my honors university writing class, and I've been enjoying it a lot. Chemistry seems to be a repeat of my high school chemistry class, but I don't recognize all of the topics on the syllabus so it will be a good foundation for my other chem courses.

My religion professor is amazing. He's the funniest guy in the world. Reminds me a little of Brother Allred with how much he knows. Brother Allred should be a religion professor here! That would be the coolest.

I still haven't found time to meet up with Pres./Bro./Professor Sandberg. He teaches in the School of Family Life. I wonder what courses he teaches. I'd be interested in registering for one!! Haha.

Yesterday I went to class until 2pm and then was doing homework from that point on until Emma came over and asked if I wanted to go see a french movie at the international cinema called The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. The night before last we saw The Kite Runner (edited for BYU audiences apparantly, though I haven't seen the original) and it was really interesting. I love movies like that... well done and make you think. So I was like, "Heck yeah!" for the french movie. It was also very interesting.

Although, it was the very first movie EVER to make me feel motion sick. Hahaha. Yeah... but it was good though. I'm going to try and tack some pictures on at the end of this or maybe throughout since I've finally uploaded all of what I had on my camera onto my computer.

I better go finish doing some reading that is technically due today.

Love,

Sarah

P.S. all of these pictures are from our walk last night after the movie. the last picture up there I used the night portrait and moved the camera to get light on my face. hahaha. the one next to my crazy light face took six tries before i was holding still enough for the picture to be MOSTLY not blurry. taking pictures when it's dark is hard!!

Emo Hair

Indeed, it is true. My hair has become short and black and partially in my eyes. But don't worry, I'm not emo. Although, every time I look in the mirror I do have to fight the urge to look very serious and depressed. What can I say? I enjoy being theatrical.

The Story:

So, I'd been meaning to do something crazy to my hair before I leave for a long time... but it seemed like I was never going to get around to it. A couple days ago I just decided to go for it. Cut it all off and dye it black and reddish and everything. Now I look emo. And that's fine. I like pulling the ol' "shock and awe" before I move away from anywhere anyway. Bwahaha.

Fake Mountains

A couple of days ago I went on a trip to the Adirondacks for a day with my Seth friend. The mountains were a lot more real than I thought they would be. (I was under the impression that they'd just be really tall hills.)
They were actually much like Utah mountains... once you got onto the trails... just a little smaller looking and less rocky. Beautiful waterfalls and lakes, though.
At one point on the way there we passed through this really creepy town. It had this mysterious abandoned feel to it. There was even a run-down factory that was obviously no longer in use. But we had a ton of fun. I highly reccommend a visit to the Adirondacks. I wish we could have gone for longer than a day. Stunningly beautiful.

quilt house

I just remembered... on our way to the reservation we saw this old gas station (out of service) covered in quilts. I went back and took some pictures at night but they didn't turn out too well... so I will put more pictures up when I have better lighting of the whole thing. But here are some pictures of the gas pumps.

picnic pictures

Here are some pictures of where we went. I ran out of batteries in the camera so I only managed to take a couple of pictures. There was a lake and a bunch of trails. We followed the "Cliff Trail" most of the time. But anyways, here are some pictures of Seth during the first part of the hike. (And one of the last trail we went on.) It probably looks spectacular in the summer and fall.

opportunity and risk

You know, Risk is a pretty fun game if you know how to win.

I asked my dad yesterday what his strategy was... and now I've been winning the game more than losing. There's more to his strategy than he told me, though. He said this morning that it should be called "Opportunity and Risk" rather than just "Risk". But I guess I just have to mold the basic strategy to my own personality and do what works for me. It's just a board game... hahaha.

Today is my first day of Spring Break and I'm planning on going on a picnic with one of my best friends, Seth Hunter. I'll try and bring a camera to take pictures of wherever we go... it will probably be a really beautiful place and it's going to be a little bit of a hike too. I'm not really sure. It was my idea to go have a picnic somewhere but he gets to pick where we go since he's the one who has lived here for his whole life.

Either way I will take pictures and put them up somewhere on here.

Time to go eat breakfast.

work, school, and ball

I decided that it would take way too long to try and explain everything that has been going on in my life for the past couple of however long it has been since we all last saw each other. So I'm just going to write about what has been going on recently.

So... I got a job at Panera Bread a couple of weeks ago. I requested Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays off, and so far that agreement has been honored. I really like working there. Everyone is really nice and fun, and I get to take home free food at the end of the day. If I want to buy stuff during my shift for break I get 65% off which is not bad at all.

School has been going okay. I think I'm getting senioritis... or I've had it for the past like... four years... I don't know. But it's getting harder and harder to be motivated in school. I'm still getting pretty good grades but the grades just aren't mattering as much as they used to.

Speaking of school, this girl from the New Vision program named Shannon has been trying to get me to go to Senior Ball for the past like... month. I've kept sort of fluctuating between whether or not I wanted to go and she keeps getting really excited or really disappointed... depending on what I tell her. But I finally got a pattern for a dress, the fabric, and all the stuff to make it with... and my mom's committment to make it for me. Not to mention booking an appointment for an updo and whatever. So now I have to go. Shannon will be happy. :P

a first for everything

This is me following in the footsteps of Luanna. Haha I suppose it will just be a summary of my life and whatnot. Enjoy. Or don't. Whichever you'd prefer.
